With photography credits in Newsweek, Virginia Living, and more, and a growing portfolio of feature articles with her byline, Meridith De Avila Khan is the editor’s one-stop-shop dream.

Send her out to investigate a story and tell it through words and photography and she will deliver. She is not afraid to wander a foreign country with a map and no agenda. After studying creative writing and studio arts at Hope College in Michigan, Meridith has made her home in Virginia for over a decade and can’t imagine building a life for herself or her little brood of four anywhere else.

Meridith loves talking motherhood, cooking, creative writing and podcasts—preferably over a strong cup of Cuban coffee.
She's a former radio DJ and her all-time favorite concerts include U2, Over the Rhine, The Decemberists, Gin Blossoms and Wilco.

Past and present photography clients include:

Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, Longwood University, Bowen Jewelry, Hampden-Sydney College, Opera on the James, Lynchburg Economic Development Association, Centra Health, and the former Virginia School of the Arts.

Portraits of Meridith by Ryan & Kelly Portnoy at The Good Story.
